Only a few weeks ago, we turned the clock back an hour, trying to keep a little more morning light as we move into winter. The days are growing shorter, and the air is taking on a chill. It’s natural to feel the pull of the darkness and gloom, and to struggle with the shifting rhythm of the seasons. But there’s also power in this time of year—a chance to slow down and gain perspective.
November invites us to step back and see the bigger picture, to remember that in times of darkness, there is always light. Even as the days seem to shrink, there’s warmth in the flicker of a candle, the perfect glow of an autumn afternoon sun, or the way the world feels just a little more peaceful as it slows. The equinox, a time of balance, reminds us that the light and dark are both necessary for growth and understanding.
So as we approach the winter months, let’s shift our perspective—recognizing that we are enough, even as we face the challenges of the season. Let the changes of the world around us guide us toward new connections, renewed gratitude, and moments of clarity. There is beauty in every season, even when we must search a little harder to find it.
Yours in well-being,
Beth Danehy, Director, FEAP
