July is here—the height of the season. It’s the hottest month of the year, when even our best-laid summer plans can wilt in the heat. The air conditioner breaks down, the ice cream melts before the last bite, and sometimes the sun burns through the sunscreen. Even in joy-filled moments, the intensity can catch us off guard.
This month reminds us that even in times we anticipate relaxation—like summer—discomfort and change may show up unexpectedly. And yet, July also offers us something steady: it is hot. We know it will be intense. And year after year, we endure it. We adapt. We find shade, take breaks, keep going.
The same is true for our lives. Change—especially unexpected change—can feel overwhelming. And it can remind us of what we’re capable of withstanding. Resilience isn’t always loud or heroic; often, it looks like a cold glass of water, a moment of rest, or reaching out for support.
At FEAP, we’re here for you through all seasons—especially the tough ones. If you want help navigating uncertainty or just need space to process the unexpected, our no-cost, confidential services are available to help.
Let this month be a reminder not only of what you’ve been through—but of your capacity to meet the moment, no matter how intense it feels. We’re in this heat together!
Yours in Well-Being,
Beth Danehy, Director, FEAP

Well-Being at Your Fingertips
Navigating Change

R3: When The Road is Long
Pausing to catch your breath at the top of a steep climb is a wise strategy when you have a long journey. When facing a prolonged or complex challenge pausing to consider and savor an accomplishment, a mini success, or a meaningful moment, can be a restorative and refreshing break and remind you of your strengths and resources.
